  • 18:58:50: I'm going to see the Landlord at 9:15 at the Paramount. 1970 Hal Ashby film starring Beau Bridges and Louis Gossett! Fuck yeah!
  • 19:01:08: @larsalamo HELL YES. Especially if you play Los Enchiladas. I saw it at the Mitch Hedberg tribute at Cap City shortly after his death.

  • 10:23:47: Saw Brüno last nigh. It was non-stop WTF? hilarious. Borat is the more endearing character, but this movie goes much further.
  • 20:06:56: So my wife doesn't have to go it alone, I think we should both change our names. I'm choosing Motown Kryptonite.
  • 23:18:55: @andycouch Weird. I'd want Jaspa to take my new made up last name. She could be Capricorn Kryptonite. Or maybe Uberqueen Rulesyourface.

Hey look, an actual livejournal post!

Don't get too excited.

For those still reading this (but ignoring the twitter posts) I got married 6/29.

We had a beautiful ceremony outside of Mercury Hall followed by a reception inside.

We are extremely grateful to our family and friends for pitching in or just attending and it will probably take months for the glow to completely wear off.

Like the wedding, the honeymoon was a blur. We started out with two nights in Miami and then headed to Costa Rica for six more days. The Costa Rica part was a surprise to Jaspa, and thankfully it was a surprise we both greatly enjoyed.

The country was stunningly beautiful, the weather was perfect, we got by on surprisingly little Spanish, we ziplined through rain forests, swam in hot springs, ate a lot of amazing and amazingly cheap food, and had a wonderful time all around.

Driving in Costa Rica is insane. People walk and bike on/across the highways, lanes are mere suggestions, and many roads are only about 1 lane wide in several spots despite being intended for traffic going both ways.

The palpable sense of danger actually made driving more exciting, especially during the semi-frequent rain.

In fact, I scared Jaspa a few times because I had adapted to driving like a native a little too well.

If you ever go there opt for a GPS.

The streets do in fact have names, but there are no street signs and most people seem to be unaware of the name of the street they are standing on.

We had a bit of a misadventure getting back which involved waiting over 11 hours at two separate airports, but even that had its good points.

We're glad to be home, though it will be a while before things get back to normal. I almost feel guilty being at work when there is so much I could be doing at home.

Also, the fact that we have to look for a new roommate in the middle of settling in post-wedding sucks, but we'll cope.

Every time I see my wife I have no doubt it was and always will be worth it.

  • 15:42 Pennies are annoying. Phase them out! Pricing and sales tax structure would be affected but oh well. I'd also like a $1 and $2 coin. #
  • 17:11 I had the song "I Want You Back" stuck in my head for the past three hours. Despite his troubled past I hope he's not gone. #
  • 17:48 I'm sad to see MJ go. He sang some of the best songs in the history of music. I also feel sorry for Farrah that he's stealing her thunder. #
  • 17:55 @andycouch Exactly! #
  • 18:13 @andycouch It felt like the one day I spent in Tucson. #
  • 18:21 @alyankovic It must be even more surreal for you. #
  • 18:31 @PFTompkins Nope. It's the iPhone 3GS. The S stands for Skittles. #
  • 18:36 Well, at least I have an excuse for singing We Are the World again. #
  • 19:15 In other news, the doggone girl is now officially Paul McCartney's. #
  • 19:51 I'm putting the finishing touches on my wedding mix tonight. I think I'll call it "HOW CAN YOU GET MARRIED WHEN MICHAEL JACKSON IS DEAD?" #
  • 20:03 McMahon, Fawcett, & Jackson all have @alyankovic in common. Here's Johnny, eBay, and Eat It/Fat respectively. #
  • 20:48 Apparently the paramedics knew it was hopeless when they arrived at the scene to find that Jackson had turned completely white. #
  • 20:51 Ok, that's the most off-color I'll let myself get. Jackson was a huge part of my childhood and I still sing his songs all the time. RIP. #
  • 22:10 "Our Way to Fall" by Yo La Tengo has to be one of the greatest songs ever. #
  • 22:12 Which reminds me of this: "37 Record-Store Clerks Feared Dead In Yo La Tengo Concert Disaster" preview.tinyurl.com/cc4x5 #
  • 00:38 I will be a married man in less than 92 hours. Not that I'm counting... #
  • 08:38 Is wondering if the NYC street vendors are selling MJ merch yet. Those guys are quick. They were selling "I survived 9/11" shirts on 9/10. #
