Hey look, an actual livejournal post!
Don't get too excited.
For those still reading this (but ignoring the twitter posts) I got married 6/29.
We had a beautiful ceremony outside of Mercury Hall followed by a reception inside.
We are extremely grateful to our family and friends for pitching in or just attending and it will probably take months for the glow to completely wear off.
Like the wedding, the honeymoon was a blur. We started out with two nights in Miami and then headed to Costa Rica for six more days. The Costa Rica part was a surprise to Jaspa, and thankfully it was a surprise we both greatly enjoyed.
The country was stunningly beautiful, the weather was perfect, we got by on surprisingly little Spanish, we ziplined through rain forests, swam in hot springs, ate a lot of amazing and amazingly cheap food, and had a wonderful time all around.
Driving in Costa Rica is insane. People walk and bike on/across the highways, lanes are mere suggestions, and many roads are only about 1 lane wide in several spots despite being intended for traffic going both ways.
The palpable sense of danger actually made driving more exciting, especially during the semi-frequent rain.
In fact, I scared Jaspa a few times because I had adapted to driving like a native a little too well.
If you ever go there opt for a GPS.
The streets do in fact have names, but there are no street signs and most people seem to be unaware of the name of the street they are standing on.
We had a bit of a misadventure getting back which involved waiting over 11 hours at two separate airports, but even that had its good points.
We're glad to be home, though it will be a while before things get back to normal. I almost feel guilty being at work when there is so much I could be doing at home.
Also, the fact that we have to look for a new roommate in the middle of settling in post-wedding sucks, but we'll cope.
Every time I see my wife I have no doubt it was and always will be worth it.
